If you exercise your right to object to commercial canvassing or you unsubscribe from the newsletter, Accor will enter your details on its internal «Do not contact list » in order to exclude you from its advertising campaigns. Your details (identity and email address) must be processed by Accor in order for your right to be applied. These details will then be passed on to certain Accor subsidiaries based on your country of residence so that they are aware that you have exercised your right to object and they no longer send you any correspondence:
- the Australian subsidiary (Accor Asia Pacific) if you live in Asia Pacific.
- the Brazilian subsidiary (Hotelaria Accor Brasil) if you live in Brazil.
As these recipient Accor subsidiaries are located in countries that are not deemed to have a sufficient level of protection, Accor has entered into agreements with the subsidiaries based on the standard stipulations of the European Commission so that an adequate level of data protection is contractually guaranteed. In addition, Accor sends this information to the service providers responsible for its customer satisfaction surveys (one of which is located in the USA). This is so that they are aware that you have exercised your right to object and they no longer send you any correspondence. As this particular service provider conforms to Safe Harbor, it can offer guarantees in terms of data protection, which means it is authorized to receive data from Accor. This handling of data was authorized by the CNIL (Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés - French data protection authority) (decision DF-2011-704 of 10/24/2011).
